Reference daily intake

Reference Daily Intake (RDI) is the amount of the relevant nutrient (vitamin, mineral, etc.) taken in the diet in one day recommended by the appropriate authority or regulation in particular country. Based on new knowledge, these recommended amounts may vary, and may also be country-specific. RDI is an indicative basic parameter for sufficient intake under normal circumstances for a healthy person. Values can be refined according to the individual situation (health, age, type, sex, physical activity, eating plan, allergy, intolerance, genetic predisposition…).

You can also find nutrition guidelines under the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA), Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) system and other acronyms. For the sake of simplicity, we’ll refer only to RDI.
